Medium has changed a lot since my last visit... Is there a way to more easily find highly plauded comments?

Having said that, my reaction is that the RW media is not in it for their own profits, but rather they are being used for a journalism-as-paid-propaganda scam where the actual profits come from manipulating the political system to rig the rules of the game in favor of certain corporate cancers.

There are a number of economic models in play now. I have to study Medium's, but perhaps the easiest one ot focus on is the advertising-driven model of such companies as CNN. The resulting drive for eyeballs too often results in disaster porn rather than the kind of constructive and informative journalism democracy and freedom depend upon.
