Looked over a few of the responses. They seemed quite thoughtful, but I could not find the best ones, which actually leads me back to my usual idea of how such systems could be improved. Hint: It has NOTHING to do with changing the name policy and apparently BEGGING for the use of fake first names instead of known-to-be-suspect handles.

I actually think there are TWO real stories here. One is probably a specific story of some kind of abuse of the handle system, but the generic solution seems not only ridiculous, but not even a solution. The other story is how the website follows the money —but in the WRONG direction. I can address the second one more briefly: The website should be financially aligned with my objective of a happy marriage.

My other suggestion would be the dual-icon system for EARNED public reputation. As it applies to this discussion, it would help me find comments that are WORTH reading. From the few I sampled, it is obviously a change that provoked a lot of thoughtful discussion, but…

Detailed suggestions or suggested details available upon polite request, but I’m not holding my breath. For now, I just see insufficient reason to invest additional time. I’ve even become indifferent to the continued survival of the website. Maybe that is the topic you (someone representing OKCupid?) should be most curious about, eh?

I admire experts, but I can claim no deep expertise. But I might be the most broadly educated ignoramus you’ll ever run into. Still reading lots of books…
