Bravery, Honesty, and the Constitution

Just a bit about bravery, honesty, and since you’re supposed to do these things in threes, the Constitution.

But, first a few words from my favorite sponsor, communication. In theory, this should be communicated directly to Congress. But there’s no communicating with my senators. Especially not by phone calls. More about communication later on…

So… Can I call anyone a coward and a liar? Am I qualified to throw any stones? But that’s why I flipped the title.

Have I ever been brave? Truth is I’ve never been tested for it. But I can remember some stupid stuff. For instance, one night in San Clemente many years ago, three big guys suddenly joined me and wanted my money. Long story short, I wasn’t stabbed to death and my $7 stayed in my wallet. At the time I thought it was mostly stupid, but one factor is that I was in uniform and I wasn’t allowed to chicken out just because I was alone. Most of the senior guys in my unit had toured Nam and sometimes they shared sea stories, but I can’t recall any of them ever claiming bravery. They just made me feel lucky that I never saw a war close up.

But I’m calling Cornyn a coward. He was a judge, too. For shame. Cornyn is a stinking coward. In particular, he has no excuse to be afraid of the voters. Just reelected, he has six years to live down a brave vote. Old enough to retire and rich, too. But he’s too terrified of the Trumplicans to stand up and do the right thing.

Honesty is actually trickier. First you gotta figure out the truth and then you have to tell it. And the cunning lies are hard to label properly. But I knew Cruz was a stinking liar before I conned myself into voting for him. I thought I had sufficient reason, but I was wrong. Gigantic mistake. Now I see that vote as one of the top stupids of my life. And now it cements my decision to stop being a Republican. Cruz still claims the empty label, but I’m out.

Now I’m just sad. It’s probably too late to save the Constitution. Bothers me a lot. Yeah, Cornyn, Cruz, and I all took oaths to defend and protect the Constitution, but I’m gonna honor mine. I meant it and no expiration date on my oath. I’m not confused about what’s going on here. A mangy pack of Trumplican cowards and liars are eagerly destroying the Constitution right now.

Back to that communication thing. Persuasive communication this time. As Cornyn and Cruz see it, I guess that means they want their supporters to invade the Capitol and wave guns in their faces. Voters, shmoters, that trick never works. Calling their offices is another stupid trick that never works. I even tried a Facebook group to encourage calling Congress, and that was even more stupid and useless. But I don’t want to give up hope. Someone must have a better idea to share?

I admire experts, but I can claim no deep expertise. But I might be the most broadly educated ignoramus you’ll ever run into. Still reading lots of books…
